Pelvic Floor Health + Why it Matters | with Lindsey Vestal

HH 25 - Lindsey Vestal_@ IG Wide Art.jpg

Lindsey Vestal is the founder of The Functional Pelvis, the first in-home pelvic health practice in New York City run by an occupational therapist. She has helped thousands of people overcome chronic pelvic health challenges like incontinence and pelvic pain. Her goal is to empower women (and men) to listen to the wisdom of their own bodies without invasive surgeries or prescriptions. She is coming on the show today to talk about pelvic health, which is such an important topic that just often doesn’t get enough attention!!

Lindsey is really trying to cut the stigma around pelvic health. Things like incontinence, bowel movements, or even birthing can feel like taboo topics. So many women are struggling with their pelvic health because they don’t feel comfortable asking questions or sharing their symptoms, but Lindsey does a fantastic job making us feel more empowered so we can have these conversations with our doctors or therapists.

We Chat About:

  • Trying to remove the embarrassment around pelvic floor health

  • Where your pelvic floor is and how it relates to the whole body

  • The three main jobs of the pelvic floor

  • Some of the symptoms to look out for

  • When to be concerned with your pelvic floor health

  • How hip and back pain can relate to the pelvic floor

  • The changes that take place in our bodies during pregnancy

  • Listening to and understanding your body
