I will be the first to admit that winter is not my favorite season, but this year I’ve decided it’s time to reframe my mindset. I can’t possibly rely my happiness on factors outside of my control. After all, I am the only one in charge of my happiness. I’ve come to realize that I am never a victim to the circumstances around me and I always have the ability to CHOOSE the thoughts and beliefs I want to change in my life. So, I’ve decided — it’s time to figure out how to kick these winter blues once and for all, and reclaim my happiness back. Here are some of my favorite strategies for beating the winter blues, and you KNOW I will be putting them into practice myself, too….
The holidays are here!! Christmas music is on full blast, nearby stores are bustling with shoppers, and snowflakes are in the air. Yet the happiness and joy that is so often highlighted during this time of year can also come with a lot of hidden (or not so hidden!) stressors. Stress around travel plans, present buying, and busy schedules can leave us feeling tired and anxious. Not to mention all of the excess sugars and processed foods that tend to fill our diets and wreak havoc on our system during this time of year. Yes, this season is a time of great togetherness and joy, but it can also be a time that pushes our physical and mental health to the limit, too….
I unexpectedly lost my father-in-law this past Thanksgiving and it was one of the few major losses I have experienced in my 28 years. Nothing makes the loss of a loved one easier, but I can truthfully say that this situation has opened my heart in more ways than I could have ever imagined…
Many of us struggle with switching up our typical dietary routines, especially around the holidays. Those few minutes of pumpkin pie heaven can quickly turn into hours of negative self-talk and guilt. For some us, it can even turn into hours or days of stomach pains, skin issues, and fatigue. Believe me, I’m right there with you. So I compiled a few tools, and recipes, to help you bust through the Thanksgiving food dilemma this year. Enjoy!
Some studies suggest that as many as 80% of women are living with hormone imbalances that affect everything from chronic fatigue syndrome, PCOS, hypothyroidism, and rheumatoid arthritis (to name a few). Autoimmune disease is now the third most common category of disease, and get this, 78% of sufferers are women. Where do we go from here?
Colorado is hands down one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Not only was our trip filled with breathtaking views of nature, but we also had the pleasure of experiencing the super chill and artsy city of Denver, too! Colorado is the best of both worlds if you ask me….
For so many years of my life, I thought that my symptoms (painful periods, fatigue, anxiety, acne…) needed to be fixed by resources outside of myself. It wasn’t until I took a hard look at my lifestyle and nutrition – and really learned to slow down and tune in – that I completely flipped that belief upside down….
There is one word in the dieting world that absolutely makes me cringe. RESTRICTION. How often do you enthusiastically start your new diet regimen, pumped to shed some serious weight, and then find yourself craving your favorite chocolatey or deep-fried treat a few days later? You start off strong, but before you know it, you feel completely trapped by the craving. It’s all your brain (and belly) can think about!
With each changing season comes a new lesson in our lives and a time to refocus and connect. With fall upon us, we will be embarking on a time of release, and of course, change….
Our truest, most authentic selves, come forward when we spend time doing activities that we love. It’s in these times that we hear the messages our soul is trying to speak, and it’s when we feel most alive, and in our bodies. So what’s holding us back from bringing on the joy…
